Permanent Ales

The first beer to be produced was the still ever popular Jeffrey Hudson Bitter, named after one of Oakham’s famous 17th century characters. The brewery expanded in 1996 and introduced Bishops Farewell as a second permanent ale. Further expansion saw a relocation to the former labour exchange in Peterborough, where a thirty five barrel plant was introduced to cope with growing demand. The brewery formed the centre piece of the new Brewery Tap brew pub. The continued success of its beer range culminated in Jeffrey Hudson Bitter (JHB) being voted Supreme Champion Beer of Britain in 2001 at The Great British Beer Festival. Capacity at The Brewery Tap was quickly reached and in 2004 because of increasing demand alternative premises were needed. The move to its current site took place in 2006 and the new seventy five barrel plant produced its first brew in October of that year. The brewery continues to produce award winning ales and its talented brewing team is renowned for its creativeness and innovation both at home and abroad.

We aim to ensure that all these ales are available all year round but there may be odd occasions when they are not available. Please contact our Sales Support office (01733 370500) to check availability.
