Wine division of Oakham Ales
I am delighted to introduce you to our 2016/17 Wine Portfolio. Over the past 12 months we have been working hard with our suppliers as we continually seek to improve our wine range and offering. As you read through this Portfolio you will discover new and exciting wines from all around the world, in addition to the core wines we have listed during the past three years that have become firm favourites with our customers and consumers alike. We have new additions across seven different countries and I would like to draw your attention to just a few of the many highlights for this year…
Eastern Europe is fast becoming a great source of quality and value for money and to that end we have sourced a delicious pair of wines from Romania; Cosmina Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir - ideal entry level wines and by the glass options.
The consumer thirst for wines from Spain’s Rioja region continues and we have added a fantastic new Tempranillo from our Rioja supplier, Finca Manzanos. Our first tasting of a tank sample on a flying visit to the winery last July was an early indication that this wine would make it into the Portfolio this year!
From the Napa Valley in California, we have two additions from the sublime Grgich Hills Estate. Grgich Hills is known as a benchmark Napa Valley wine estate, consistently producing wines of the highest quality. Miljenko "Mike" Grgich first became known worldwide when the Chardonnay he crafted outscored the best of France and revolutionised the wine world. The tasting shattered the myth that only French soil could produce world class wine and it energised the Napa Valley wine industry. We have the Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon listed this year.
Not to be forgotten are the classic wines from Burgundy. Domaine du Colombier is our new producer for Chablis. From Petit to Premier Cru the wines are stunning. Also look out for ‘Le Bourgogne Pinot Noir’ from Domaine Chanson. We also continue our partnership with the stunning Sparkling Wines from Bernard-Massard in Luxembourg. Jean Bernard-Massard founded the business in 1921 after a period learning his skills in the Champagne region of France. The wines are truly remarkable in terms of quality, presentation, and above all, taste.
Elsewhere in the list there are new entries from Austria, Germany and Italy and wherever you look in our portfolio you will find great wines made by great producers, offering great value at every price point.
Investment in our people is always high on the agenda and we continue to work with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust to equip our team with knowledge and understanding in the world of wine. We also believe that staff training of the people who talk to the consumer is of paramount importance and to that end we have created a ‘staff training’ session that can be run by a member of our team in your premises. In addition to this we also have a full range of information fact sheets available on all of the wines within the portfolio. If you would like to discuss our services and products in more detail please feel free to contact our sales support office who will be delighted to assist you and more than happy to arrange a personal visit from a member of our team to give expert advice.
